Cognitive Load Friendly Writing Instruction Across the School

Writing is one of the most cognitively demanding tasks that we can undertake. If we are to support our students to take advantage of the instruction we provide, we must plan for cognitive load-friendly units and lessons that bring all students on the journey.

Participating in a Teach Along is about learning a little bit, doing a little bit and then learning a little bit more. There are no 'shoulds' or 'musts. Joining in is an opportunity to get what you need, when you need it to help your students make the greatest gains possible in a short space of time.

By the end of this four-week Teach Along, you will have:
-An understanding of the implications of cognitive load on writing instruction
-A clearer view of where different writing activities and lessons fit into the literacy block
- Confidence to choose adjustments for struggling students based on their learning profiles
- The opportunity to review your existing planning through the lens of cognitive load and align teaching to explicit instruction and cognitive load principles.
- Practical know-how for running cognitive load friendly lessons

This Teach Along is suitable for all grades of school, including secondary.

I am an Evergreen Teacher member. Do I have to pay to access this course?
No. This teach-along is included in your Evergreen Teacher membership.

Can I access this any time I like?
Yes! While we will hold live sessions each week, you can watch the recordings as many times as you like for however long you remain an Evergreen Teacher member. You will retain access to the course for 1 year.

Do I need to purchase anything to participate?
No, a workbook will be provided.

I can't make it to the live sessions. Do I need to register?
If you know that you can't make it to the live session, don't worry. You'll have access to a recording.

Are there assignments in this Teach Along?
No. We want Teach Alongs to support you in your teaching, not create more work for you.

Can I purchase the course and share it with my team?
Unfortunately, this is a single-user course.
