Every school wishes they could  help struggling readers more.

The good news?

You can.

(and it doesn't take millions of dollars or complicated programs)

The solution to this challenge isn't to do more. It's to focus relentlessly on the small number of things that matter most.

Education has undergone rapid change in recent years. There is much to celebrate, yet still more work to do.  Whatever phonics program your school uses, every classroom still has students who need more help to learn to read and spell.

Leaders and teachers know that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to meeting the needs of every child.  A knowledgeable teacher can make an enormous difference to student outcomes, but individual teachers can't move the needle on whole-school results.  For that to happen, schools need to have a simple, consistent, and effective system of instruction woven into the fabric of 'how we do things here'.

We know that nobody has time or bandwidth for anything complicated

A simple, step by step solution is here

Reading Success in Tier 2 & 3  (F-2) is a four-week Teach Along course that gives F–2 teachers a simple, low-prep way to support the students who need more, without the need for additional staff, expensive resources, or unrealistic time commitments.

This Teach Along equips teams with:

The knowledge to understand why a reader is stuck, and what will actually move them forward.

Simple tools to find the exact point of instruction each student needs, with the data to make that call with confidence.

A full suite of low- and no-prep resources that supplement your existing program and support your struggling readers.

When schools build a culture of confident, responsive decision-making, thriving students are the result.

For every student to thrive, a school needs one clear, shared way to respond when a child needs more. Something every teacher can pick up and use well, no matter their experience.

Consistency is built on shared knowledge, shared methods, including how decisions are made,. The same knowledge, the same framework, and the same resources are in every teacher's hands, but with each teacher using their professional judgement about the focus for their students at this point in time.

Frequently Asked Questions

We already train staff in MTSS. What will this course add to that?

Most MTSS training explains theory. Very little of it shows teachers, in fine detail, how to run Tier 2 and 3 in the classroom: how to find the gap, what to teach next, and how to track whether it is working. This is the how.

Our team is under a lot of time pressure. How will we manage to complete this course?

Your team will have access to the recordings of this course for 24 months.  While the modules are delivered live, there is no requirement to attend the live sessions.  You'll be able to complete the modules at a time that suits you.

We already have a phonics program. Won't this course interfere with that?

The content of this Teach Along focuses on principles of instruction and all available resources supplement, not override your existing program. Teachers will be able to use your school's existing scope and sequence, and when something different is needed, support your students' specific needs.

My team is already overwhelmed with priorities. How can I ask them to consider another thing?

It's stressful to watch students struggle. It's even more stressful not to know what to do to help. The best way to help alleviate our team's stress is to equip them with knowledge and simple techniques to get real results. This course is about taking things one small step at a time.
